Day 01 – Kuala Lumpur / Taman Negara (-/-/-)
You will be met in your hotel lobby in the city centre between 0800hrs to 0830hrs to be transferred to the shuttle coach departing point to embark on a 4 hours journey to Kuala Tembeling jetty. Please proceed to register yourself with the National Park and Wildlife Department. At 1400 hrs (Friday 1430 hrs), board a motorised longboat for 3 hours ride to Kuala Tahan, the headquarters of Taman Negara. On route you will be passing by local villages and lush tropical rainforest. Birds, monkeys, monitor lizards or water buffaloes may be seen along the river. Expected arrival at Kuala Tahan at 1700 hours. Check in at the reception of Taman Negara Resorts. At own leisure to soak in the jungle atmosphere at the Resort. At 2030 hrs meet your guide at the Resort’s reception who will give you a brief orientation introduction. Your first adventure will be a night jungle walk in the 130 million years old tropical rainforest. We will be on a lookout for nocturnal insects amidst the chorus of the rainforest. Do note however, sighting of wildlife in the tropical forest due to its density, is a bonus. Overnight in air-conditioned chalet.

Breakfast. 0930hrs – Meet the guide and start with a jungle walk up Teresik Hill. This walk takes us further into the national park. The guide will highlight to you the rich flora found enroute. At the top of Teresik Hill, a panoramic view of the tropical rainforest awaits. On a clear day, you can see Mount Tahan, the highest mountain in Peninsular Malaysia. Before returning to the base, we will go on a canopy walkway, built 40 meters above the ground and 450 meters in length. You will experience the rainforest from a different perspective, as you will be closer to the top of the trees! This afternoon, we will take a motorised boat to the cataracts of Lata Berkoh. There is a deep pool delightful for swimming, resting or reading on the rocky area overlooking the river. On the way, we will stop over at Lubuk Tenor Fish Sanctuary where a fascinating fish feeding experience awaits. Lubok Tenor, blessed with clear water (unless there is recent heavy rain) and many fish is the result of a successful eco tourism project involving local villagers and the Government to create fish sanctuaries Return to Resort. Overnight.

Breakfast. The boat for Kuala Tembeling departs at 0900hrs. This journey will take about 2 to 3 hours, depending on water level of the river. The transfer to Kuala Lumpur will depart by 1230 hours, expected arrival time at your hotel in Kuala Lumpur city centre is between 1530hrs to 1600hrs.

Important: It is not advisable to bring your suitcase for the boat ride. If you are not returning to Kuala Lumpur, please approach the Taman Negara Resort office at Kuala Tembeling to place your suitcase with them. Camera and fishing licence is payable at Kuala Tembeling.
The rainy season is between middle November to middle/end January. During the rainy season, some of the activities may be cancelled should there be a high element of safety at risk.

- The boat ride to and from Kuala Tembeling / Kuala Tahan is not on private basis.
- It is quicker to go to Kuantan from Taman Negara than via Kuala Lumpur. Optional drop off in Kuantan is with supplement. For those travelling to the east coast town of Kuantan you will arrive there at around 1530hrs.

What to bring: Change of clothes of T-shirts, long or short pants, swimwear and towel. Small rucksack for the trek, hat, raincoat, track shoes, sandals, insect repellent, sun protection lotion (for sun sensitive skin) and torch light. Fishing rod (optional).

A one-hour and half overland journey from Lahad Datu along gravel road takes you to Tabin Wildlife Reserve where you will check into a charming timber bungalow, which comes complete with private balcony and hot water shower, a real luxury in the forest. Built alongside the Lipad River and nestled within the rainforest, a variety of birds, insects and even small mammals can be sighted quite easily within the resort. Discover the rich variety of jungle herbs, some endemic, used for generations by local folks for the treatment of various ailments. In the afternoon, visit the Lipad mud volcano, which serves as a mineral salt lick for wildlife. After trekking through the jungle for twenty minutes, arrive at the elevated bare area of the mud volcano. Try to identify the multitude of animal footprints here. Those adventurous can experiment the effect of the volcanic mud said to be responsible for fine complexion. Walk up the observation tower and admire the contrasting landscape of the bare area and its surrounding thick forest where birds are commonly sighted. After dinner, enjoy a slide presentation on Tabin’s uniqueness followed by a trip to look out for nocturnal wildlife and birds, communing with nature in the dark & dense expanse of the forest beneath the star-studded sky. Overnight at Tabin Wildlife Resort.

Note: (Optionalal -not included in package: A dawn drive to look out for active wildlife at this time of the day.) Go for a morning bird walk. This will be an unforgettable one as Tabin has a rich collection of around 300 species of birds. After breakfast, trek through the lush green jungle known for its rich diversity of plants and animal species. Visit Lipad’s Waterfall. Take a dip in the natural pool and enjoy the refreshing splash coming down from the waterfall. Alternatively explore the surrounding vegetation or just relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. In the afternoon, we suggest for you to try out the Tabin Rainforest Foot Soak made with a secret blend of herbs, to relax tired muscles after long jungle treks. Overnight.

Day 03 Tabin wildlife – Lahad Datu (B/L/-)
After breakfast, simply go along with the flow of forest life whether it be strolling along the riverside to spot macaques and small mammals or swimming at the nearby rock pool or in the river before bidding the enchanting and captivating Tabin an unforgettable farewell. Overland transfer back to Lahad Datu. **

visit asia - tours to asia Day 1 Kuching – Semenggok Orang Utan – Long House (-/L/D)
Depart at 0730 hours for Semenggok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre located about 22km south of Kuching. Orang Utans who were either orphaned or rescued from captivity are trained on survival skills when released in the wild. Young Orang Utans in their early stages of training are still housed at the Centre, along with rescued hornbills, eagles, storks, porcupines, gibbons and honey bears. Witness the feeding of the Orang Utans at the scheduled feeding times.The tour includes a 25 minutes walk through fine dipterocarp rainforest. Enroute to our next stop, we stop at Serian town to visit the native market and pepper garden. On request, we can also make roadside stop to see bamboo orchids and pitcher plants sold by natives. Lunch will be at Lachau village. On arrival, we will take a boat to visit and tour a Longhouse. In the evening, enjoy a native dinner prepared by the Ibans. Menu includes such as bamboo shoots, jungle ferns, cucumber leaves, palm hearts and so on together with rice. After dinner, witness traditional dances and join in the tribal revelry in the Longhouse. Here is a chance to try the local rice wine, tuak. Overnight in a simple guesthouse located beside an Iban longhouse (basic accommodation consisting of individual beds with mosquito netting. There are common shower and toilet facility)

Day 2 Lemanak (B/L/D)
Breakfast at the guesthouse. Enjoy the demonstration of the native activities such as cockfighting and blowpipe, followed by a short nature walk to learn about some local medicinal plants. We will pass by ancient burial grounds and learn about how animal traps are set. Descend to a river bank, here we will take a longboat upriver, negotiating more rapids and bends of the Lemanak River. As we continue up river and detour to a tributary of the Lemanak River, we will be making a few stops to collect jungle produces. Continue downriver back to the guesthouse for dinner and overnight.

Day 3  Lemanak – Kuching (B/L/-)
After breakfast, we will travel by longboat down river where we will catch the coach back to Kuching. Lunch en route at Ranchan Waterfall. Visit a pottery factory along the way. Arrive Kuching in the late afternoon.

Friendly Note: Cockfighting is a traditional and friendly sport of the natives, It does not involve any dangerous tools that can endanger the lives of the birds. In fact, cocks are well loved pets, held in high regards and generally cherished by their native owners.

What to Bring : Due to the basic conditions at the Longhouse, you are advice to bring your own raincoat, hand-torch, personal toiletries, light clothing preferably cotton materials, towel, body soap, walking shoe with rubber base/slippers, anti malaria tablets, insect repellent, sun protection lotion & first aid kit. Due to the nature of the program, it is not advisable to bring along your suitcase which is advisable to leave them in Kuching.
Should you like to bring gifts for the people at the Longhouse, biscuits, medical first aid kit, books, pencils, pens, educational toys and dolls are highly appreciated. We discourage giving sweets and cigarettes.

Stop on the way for a visit to see the cottage industry of basket weaving followed by Lata Iskandar Waterfall and a native settlement. Be immersed in the cool, crisp air of Cameron Highlands with its wonderful scenery. Tour of Cameron Highlands consists of the tea plantation, tea factory, market place and butterfly farm. Day 02 - Sun – Cameron Highlands – Penang (330 Km) ( B/-/-)
Early morning set off to Penang. En route visit the Sam Poh Tong cave temple. Thereafter stop at the Royal town of Kuala Kangsar for a spell of photographing of the exterior view only of Ubudiah Mosque, Iskandariah Palace and Istana Kenangan. Proceed further to Kuala Sepetang mangrove forest, the best-managed mangrove forest in Malaysia and one that serves a very important ecological role in protecting the coastline from erosion. Delight in the novelty of walking through natural mangrove forest on a boardwalk. Kuala Sepetang produces the bulk of the nation’s top quality mangrove charcoal. Visit a charcoal kiln where charcoals are produced. Cross over to Penang, better known as the “Pearl of the Orient” via the fifth longest bridge in the world. Overnight at Bayview Beach resort.

Day 03 - Mon – Discovery Tour of Georgetown, Penang (B/-/-)
0900 hrs, depart from hotel for a City, Culture, and Heritage tour of Georgetown, which has been official declared as a UNESCO SITE in 2008. Visit the 3rd longest reclining Buddha figure in the world followed by Kek Lok Si Temple, also known as Temple of 1000 Buddhas, that was built in 1904. It is the most beautiful and largest Buddhist temple complex in SouthEast Asia. Next we visit Fort Cornwallis, the landing site of Captain Francis Light in 1786 when he arrived to start the first British colony in Penang. The tour carries on with a visit to the water village of The Clan Jetties at Weld Quay, so named as residents of each jetty share similar surname. We next take you along Pitt Street, also known as “The Street of Harmony”. Here churches, Chinese temples, mosques and Hindu temples are built along the same street in harmonious existence side by side for centuries. Visit the intricate Khoo Kong Si clan’s house. Enjoy a breezy trishaw ride, a still popular mode of transport in Georgetown. Return to the hotel and the rest of the day is at your own leisure. In the late evening, you can explore the nightlife along Batu Ferringhi, Penang style! Overnight at Bayview Beach resort.

Day 04 – Tue – Penang – Bangkok (B/-/-)
Transfer to Butterworth to board the international train to Bangkok, departing at 1420 hrs. The journey is unaccompanied. Only 2nd class train tickets are available. Overnight sleeping berth. Day 05 – Wed – Bangkok (-/-/-) Expected time of arrival in Bangkok is at 1050 hrs.

The tropical rainforest of Malaysia has always been fascinating to the world. This program is arranged in such a way that it encompasses an all round view of a rainforest culturally and ecologically.

Day 01 Kuala Lumpur – Gombak (-/L/D)
1100hrs: Departs Kuala Lumpur for a one hour drive to the tropical rainforest of Gombak, check in at the Jungle Lodge Alang Sedayu (simple accommodation with fan room & hot water). Enroute pass through typical villages with its friendly people going about with their daily activities. On arrival your nature guide, an expert on the Malaysian jungle, will welcome you. A local fresh welcome drink will be served. You will be assisted with the registration and will be briefed pertaining your stay at the lodge and its program.
1300hrs: Lunch
1430hrs: Depart Jungle Lodge on a cycling trip to the aboriginal museum where you’ll get an insight of the life, history and the culture of the Orang Asli (the indigenous people) of West Malaysia. Visit an Orang Asli village whereby you will have the opportunity of meeting and getting to know the people and their lifestyle.

(Note: There will opportunity for fruits, tasting fresh from the trees during the fruit season). Learn the game of Congkak, the traditional past time game of the local. Try your talent on the handling of the blowpipe, the aboriginal hunting weapon. Enjoy and experience fresh water fishing with a traditional fishing rod from the Bertam palm.
1900hrs: Barbeque dinner in the tranquil of the evening at the riverside. After dinner, a video show of the Malaysian tropical rainforest will enhance your knowledge of our natural heritage and thereafter take a guided night walk in the darkness of the oldest tropical rainforest in the world. A light supper will be served before you retire for the night in the comfort of the natural surrounding accompanied by the natural sounds of the jungle and its fresh air. Overnight. Day 2 Gombak – Kuala Lumpur (B/L/-)
0830hrs- 0930hrs: Breakfast
0930hrs: Briefing from your guide on the preparation for the jungle trekking.
1000hrs: Jungle trekking accompanied by your nature guide. You’ll be introduced to the majesty of the Rainforest with its varieties of plants and trees, some famous for its herbal and medicinal values.
1330hrs- 1430hrs: Lunch
1500hrs: Check-out and return transfer to KL.
1600hrs: Arrive back in Kuala Lumpur.

Note: Please travel light by bringing along only the necessity for one night stay. We propose that you leave your heavier luggage at the hotel in Kuala Lumpur and it is also advisable to have comfortable walking shoe, hat or cap, swimming attire, suntan or sun block lotion and spare clothing in case you get wet or dirty.
