Venture upstream the Irrawaddy river onboard a smaller Pandaw ship from Mandalay to Bhamo in Northern Myanmar via Katha and the 3 defiles alongside beautiful river sceneries and villages meeting friendly and genuine Burmese people. The tour extends to Inle lake and ends with a stay in Ngapali paradise beach.

Fly to Mandalay via Bangkok.

Day 2 MANDALAY (-/-/-)
On arrival at Mandalay international airport meeting with our representative and transfer to Amazing Mandalay Hotel for overnight. Rest of the day is at leisure to relax.

Breakfast at hotel. Embark by 10am. Set sail and visit the spectacular potteries near Kyauk-myoung where the famous 50-gallon water pots are handmade. We see all stages of manufacture from the throwing of the pots to the weeklong firing in huge kilns. We return to the ship and enter the third defile of Irrawaddy.

Stop at Khan-nyat village with its many Buddhist monasteries and visit the former head teacher's house, which also includes his small museum collections. We go ashore and climb the Pagoda Hill at Tigyang with its stunning views of the Upper Irrawaddy River.

Day 5 KATHA (B/L/D) visit asia - tours to asia
We reach the enchanting colonial town of Katha, setting for George Orwell’s Burmese Days. Little has changed since then. Of interested are the fire station’s collections of the Irrawaddy Flotilla Company’s ship’s bells taken from sunken ships in the Second War. Katha was the final resting place of the old flotilla and here over a hundred ships were scuppered in 1942 in an Act of Denial before the advancing Japanese. We also visit an elephant logging camp at Katha in the hardwood forests of the hills that surround the town and further upstream

Transfer by Local boat and visit Kyun Daw village where we will visit countless small Pagodas.

Day 8 TAGAUNG (B/L/D) visit asia - tours to asia
Walking tour of the ancient city of Tagaung viewing the fortifications, a famous nat or spirit shrine and the archaeological area.

Day 9 MINGUN (B/L/D)
In Slip our moorings early in the morning and stop at Mingun to see the largest working bell in the world and the unfinished pagoda that is the largest single mass of brick building in the world. We also visit the Mingun Old People’s Home originally established with the assistance of the Irrawaddy Flotilla Company in the 1930s. Drive through the beautiful Sagaing hills to the hilltop to enjoy an amazing view over the region and Irrawaddy River.

Disembark in Mandalay. Car transfer to Amazing Mandalay Hotel for overnight.

Day 11 MANDALAY – HEHO (B/-/-) visit asia - tours to asia visit asia - tours to asia
Breakfast at hotel. Morning transfer to airport for flight to Heho. On arrival drive to Nyaung Shwe stopping at a vineyard & winery for wine tasting. Continue by road towards Inle lake and boat ride to Inle Princess Resort. Afternoon Inle sightseeing by boat includes Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, one of the famous principal shrines in Myanmar, this pagoda houses five small Buddha images. Once a year, in end of Sep or early Oct, there is a pagoda festival during which the Four Buddha images are rowed around the lake in a colourful Barge. Also included is the old Nga Phe Monastery, fondly known as the jumping cats monastery. The boat tour finishes with a leisure cruise in the incredible labyrinth of floating gardens & floating houses to see Intha people’s way of life. Overnight at Inle Princess Resort.

Day 12 INLE (B/L/-)
Breakfast at hotel. Full day lake excursion by longtail boat including the five-day market. The place is crowded with ethnic minorities in their colourful traditional dresses selling and buying local farm produce. Lunch at a floating restaurant. In the afternoon, continue by boat to Indein village for the Shwe Inn Dain, a 16th Century temple site. Continue by boat to floating silk weaving on wooden handlooms, silversmith and blacksmith workshops. Overnight at Inle Princess Resort.

Day 13 INLE – HEHO – THANDWE – NGAPALI BEACH (B/-/-) visit asia - tours to asia
Breakfast at hotel. Morning boat & car transfer back to Heho for flight to Thandwe. On arrival at Thwande airport transfer ( by hotel ) to the beautiful Ngapali beach. 03 nights stay ( deluxe room ) at the luxurious Sandoway resort to relax and enjoy this unspoiled beach: swim, sunbathe and take in the delights of this beautiful holiday resort. Optional sightseeing or visit to offshore islands.

Day 16 DEPARTURE (B/-/-)
Join hotel shuttle to airport for flight to Yangon. On arrival change to international terminal to board your flight home.
