Day 1 : Departure from the UK. Fly to Mandalay

Arrive in Mandalay. Meeting with our representative and transfer to The Sedona Hotel. Time at leisure to relax aftre long flights. Late afternoon Mandalay brief orientation tour by car ending with a welcome dinner in town. Overnight at Sedona hotel.

DAY 3: MANDALAY/BAGAN AIRPORT- EMBARKATION Irrawaddy River (B/L/D)
Transfer to airport for a morning flight to Bagan. Arriving in Bagan, be whisked from airport to the ship for lunch followed by exploration of a selection of the 3000 plus BAGAN monuments by bicycle or coach. Overnight on RV Shin Arahan.

DAY 4: BAGAN (B/L/D)
Further explorations of BAGAN and visits to a lacquer workshop. Overnight on RV Shin Arahan.

Day 5: BAGAN MONUMENTS - OHN NE KYAUNG MONASTERY (B/L/D)
Further exploration by coach of the monuments follow by a lacquerware workshop and visit to the local markets. Sail in the noon to upstream. Evening walk at Oh Ne Kyaung village to see the local life in this typical river side community. Overnight on RV Shin Arahan.

Day 6: YANDABO (B/L/D)
This small rural village is specialized in pot making. We visit the Pandaw School, built with past donations from Pandaw passengers. Overnight on RV Shin Arahan.

Day 7: MANDALAY - AVA - AMARAPURA (B/L/D) visit asia - tours to asia
Passenger will take a tour of central Mandalay visiting the Mahamuni Pagoda and Shwe Nan Daw Kyaung teak carved monastery. Next we explore the ancient capital of Amarapura by coach and sampan and crossing the U Bein Bridge to see paintings in a temple. Overnight on RV Shin Arahan.

Day 8: KYAUNG-MYOUNG POTTERIES (B/L/D)
Sail upstream and visit the spectacular potteries near Kyauk-myoung where the famous 50 gallon water pots are handmade. We see all stages of manufacture from the throwing of the pots to the week-long firing in huge kilns. Overnight on RV Shin Arahan.

Day 9: THIRD DEFILE (B/L/D) visit asia - tours to asia
We enter the Third Defile at its end point and sail upstream all day until Ma Le village, the starting point of the 3rd Defile of the Irrawaddy. We visit the village and cruise downstream again.

Day 10: MINGUN PAGODA AND BELL (B/L/D)
We stop at Mingun to see the largest working bell in the world and the unfinished pagoda which is the largest single mass of brick building in the world. We also visit the Mingun Old Peoples Home originally established with the assistance of the Irrawaddy Flotilla Company in the 1930s. Overnight on RV Shin Arahan.

Day 11: SAGAING HILLS (B/L/D)
The true delight of Sagaing lies in its 1.000 hermitages and sanctuaries, rich in woodcarving and religious art. Overnight on RV Shin Arahan.

Day 12: DISEMBARK MANDALAY (B/-/-) visit asia - tours to asia visit asia - tours to asia
Disembark at Mandalay Shwe Kyet Yet Jetty in mid morning.
(Disembark the ship between 8.00 am - 9.00 am at Shwe Kyet Yet Jetty, Mandalay). Transfer to The Sedona Hotel. Afternoon Mandalay city tour includes Maha-myat-muni Pagoda (the most revered Buddha image in Mandalay). Enroute to the pagoda, stop to observe the labourious process of gold-leaf beating, where gold is painstakingly hammered out into tissue-thin squares. Continue to Kuthodaw Pagoda, known also as the world's biggest book & Shwe-nan-daw Kyaung (the Golden Teak Monastery, known for its exquisite wood carvings), Zegyo market and handicraft workshops, traditional silk & cotton weaving houses.

Day 13 : MANDALAY/HEHO-INLE LAKE (B/L/-)
Morning transfer to the airport for flight to Heho. Drive to Nyaung Shwe through the hazy Shan Mountains, stopping at a vineyard and a winery for wine tasting. Lunch in town before taking a boat ride to Inle Lake, home to the Intha people who live in floating villages along the lakeside. Check in at Villa Inle Resort. Afternoon boat trip on the lake to see the leg-rowing fishermen, the floating vegetable gardens and floating houses. Overnight in Inle.

Day 14 : INLE (B/L/-)
Full day excursion by boat to Indein village for a pleasant walk to the Shwe Inn Dain ancient pagoda complex, then continue by boat to a floating silversmith, blacksmith, hand weaving village, tobacco workshop, the Jumping cat monastery and Phaung Dau Oo pagoda. Lunch in a floating restaurant during visits. Overnight in Inle.

Day 15 : INLE-HEHO/YANGON (B/-/D)
Morning boat & car transfer to Heho airport for flight to Yangon. After checking in at The Savoy hotel, enjoy a guided city tour of Yangon colonial area including the Golden Valley , Aung Sang Suu Kyi House ( exterior only ), the National museum and the Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda for the Reclining Buddha. Next explore downtown Yangon stopping at Sule Pagoda, Mahabandoola Park, India town, China town and the colourful Boyoke market ( also known as Scott market ). Optional tea break at the Strand in Yangon, the first hotel built in Yangon. Later in the afternoon transfer to the impressive Buddhist shrine of Shwedagon Pagoda. At sunset its gilded stupa, bathed in the fading rays, takes on a magical glow. Farewell dinner with folk show. Overnight at The Savoy Hotel.

Day 16 : DEPARTURE (B/-/-)
Breakfast at hotel. In due time transfer to airport for flight home.
