On arrival at Yangon airport , your guide will meet & transfer you to the Chatrium Hotel Royal Lake Yangon. Rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight in Yangon.

DAY 03 YANGON (B/-/-)
Breakfast at hotel. Yangon guided city tour starting with the colonial part of the city followed by Sule Pagoda, dating back over 2,000 years ago, Botataung Pagoda and the National Museum. Next visit is to the magnificent reclining Buddha at Chauk Htat Gyi and a photo stop at the Karaweik Hall, a 'hamsa-bird-shaped' floating barge on Kandawgyi royal Lake. Afternoon stroll in downtown Yangon visiting Mahabandoola Park, India town, China town and the colourful Bogyoke market with an optional stop at The Strand for high tea. In late afternoon, transfer to the great Shwedagon Pagoda, one of the most impressive Buddhist shrines of the world. The best time to visit Shwedagon Pagoda is at sunset when its gilded stupa is bathed in the fading rays of the sun and takes on a magical glow. Overnight in Yangon.

DAY 04 YANGON – HPA AN (By car, approx 6 hours drive)
After breakfast overland transfer to Hpa-An. On arrival check in at Hotel Zwekabin or Hpa An Lodge. Afternoon guided visit to Saddar and Kawt Ka Taung caves. Overnight in Hpa-An.

Board a slow boat for an enchanting 5 hour river cruise from Hpa-An to Mawlamyine. Afternoon drive to Nwalabon pagoda then to Khyauktalon pagoda. Overnight at Attran Hotel.

visit asia - tours to asiaBreakfast at hotel. Drive about 30 mins southward to Mudon, 29 km south of Mawlamyine, a place well known for cotton weaving. Enroute stop at Win Sein Tawaya huge reclining Buddha. The mountains to the east are a source of jungle food-deer, snake and other wild forest species which serve as meat supply for restaurants in Mudon. Continue driving to Thanbyuzayat for the Allied War Memorial Cemetery. Afterwards, drive to Kyaikkami a small coastal resort and missionary centre known as Amherst during the British era. Finally enjoy some peace & quiet time at Setse Beach before returning to Mawlamyine. Time permitting stop at Kyaikmaraw Pagoda, famous for the statue of Buddha sitting in western manner. The pagoda is also well known for its hundreds of beautiful glazed tiles. Overnight at Attran Hotel.

Morning car transfer (about 4 hours drive) to Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda. Enroute stop at Thaton, the first great ancient capital of the Mon Empire. Visit Shwezayan Pagoda, believed to contain four of the Buddha's teeth then Thagyapaya Pagoda, decorated with various terracotta glazed tiles, dating from the 11th and 12th Centuries.
Arrive Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda base camp (Kinpun Sakan). Here join in a pick up truck for the ascent from the base camp up to the transit junction, Yathae Taung (Hermit’s Hill) ( the ride takes around 1 hour ). Then after a 45 min walking up the mountain you will finally reach Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda ( Please note Sedan chairs carried by porters are available to hire ). This is where you will find the famous "Golden Rock", a huge boulder precariously perched on the edge of a cliff face seemingly defying gravity. It is believed that Buddha's hair is precisely placed on the Golden Rock stupa thereby keeping its fine balance. Visit the Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda & surrounding temples. Overnight at Mountain Top Hotel.

Breakfast at hotel. Morning another visit to Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda before walking down. Rejoin your car & driver and drive back to Yangon enroute stopping at Bago. Sightseeings in Bago include: Shwe Maw Daw Pagoda ( over 100 metres high ), one of the venerated pagodas in Myanmar, Shwe-Thar-Laung reclining Buddha Image, the world's most beautiful reclining Buddha and Bago local market.
Arrive back to Yangon in late afternoon. Overnight in Yangon.

Breakfast at the Hotel. Transfer to the airport for a late morning flight to Sittwe. Upon arrival at Sittway airport, transfer to hotel for check-in before exploring Sittwe, a city with a mixture of Indian and Southeast Asian influences by the Bay of Bengal. Marvel at the many varieties of fish sold at the lively fish market and deepen your understanding of Rakhine culture at the Cultural Museum followed by a visit to Lokananda pagoda. Finally go to the viewpoint beach for a panoramic view at sunset. Dinner and overnight at Noble Hotel.

Breakfast at the hotel. Car transfer to the Kaladan River to board your private boat. You will spend the rest of the afternoon enjoying the very picturesque trip to Mrauk U that should take somewhere between four to six hours depending on the tide. Lunch box provided. Upon arrival in Mrauk U, check into your hotel.
Little known Mrauk U was the capital of a powerful Burmese kingdom founded in the 15th century, a major archaeological site in Myanmar, second eminent temple site after Bagan, your visits to Koethaung Temple, Pitakataik Library, Laungbanpyauk Pagoda, Yadana Mannaung and Sakaya Mannaung Pagodas. Unlike at Bagan, where the monuments are spread across an arid plain, at Mrauk U the pagodas (which are far less numerous and stylistically very different) are set against a lush, hilly region. Dinner & Overnight at Nawarat Hotel.

DAY 11 MRAUK U - Tatooed Chin villages (B/L/D)
Breakfast at the hotel. Full day excursion to Tatooed Chin villages, 40 minutes drive by car to the East of Mrauk U to Sun-Oe village on the bank of Lay Mro (Ra Maung) river. Take the boat (about 3 hrs) up the Lay Mro river among the mountain ranges. Visit Khone-Chaung Chin village. Women above 40 years old have tattoo on their faces while younger women no longer practice face tattooing.
Lunch box will be provided. On the way back, visit Chaw May Chin village and its population. Most women in this village are uneducated, even illiterate & so isolated that they have never seen a car or a bicycle. Cruise down the river to Sun-Oe village before driving back to your hotel. Dinner at Overnight at Nawarat Hotel.

After breakfast, leave Mrauk U for Sittwe by private boat. On arrival transfer to airport for flight back to Yangon. Overnight in Yangon.

Morning flight to Mandalay. On arrival car transfer to jetty to board a boat for Inwa island. Enjoy a horse cart ride round the island stopping at Bagaya & Maha Aung Mye Bonzon Monasteries, Nanmyin watchtower. Cross the river by ferry and rejoin your car for a drive to Sagaing hills. Finally drive to Amarapura for a brief visit to Mahaghandayon Monastery and finish the day with a walk around Ubein Bridge at sunset. Overnight at Mandalay City Hotel.

Today enjoy a leisurely Mandalay city tour with guide : Maha Muni Pagoda, Kuthodaw Stupa ( Worlds' largest Buddhist Book, each page displayed in a separate stupa ), Shwe Nan Daw teak Monastery, Kythodaw pagoda, Atumashi Kyaung. Stop at a gold leaf beating workshop to witness the incredibly hard job the workers are doing. Evening walk up Mandalay Hill to see the Shweyattaw Buddha image and for a panoramic view at sunset. Overnight in Mandalay.

Drive inside Myanansan Kyaw walled Palace come fortress still being used as military base before continuing by road to Monywa ( 2 hours ) on the eastern bank of Chindwin river. Guided visits to main attractions in Monywa include Thambuddhei Paya temple, Boddhi Tataung standing Buddha, the 2nd tallest in the world and local fruit & vegetable farms. Cross the Chindwin river to Po Win Daung & Shwe Ba Daung cave chambers. Return to Mandalay for overnight.

Morning drive to Maymyo also known as Pin Oo Lwin. It's a 2 hour drive on a beautiful road bordered by monsoon forests and paddy fields. Pin Oo Lwin used to be a British hill station, similar to Dalat in Vietnam which used to be a French one. The town has preserved many colonial architectural monuments, British brick & timber houses and churches. Enjoy a traditional horse-drawn carriage ride around town near the Clock Tower followed by a leisurely walk in the well manicured Kandawgyi Botanical Garden. Afternoon visit Botanical gardens, Kandwgyi, Purcell Tower and Pwe Kauk Waterfalls. Overnight at Hotel Pyin Oo Lwin.

Morning car transfer to Maymyo station and board a local train. Enjoy a spectacular 4 hour train ride, at one point crossing the famous Gokteik viaduct. Off the train in Naung Cho, you will be picked up and transferred to Hsipaw. Overnight at Hsipaw resort.

Day 18: HSIPAW (B/L/-)
Guided visits in Hsipaw : Bawgyo Pagoda, boat ride up stream Dokhtawady river immergerd in a stunning scenery of mountains valleys, orange orchards along the river. Walk to 150 year old Shan monastery followed by a pleasant soft trek in a Shan village. Picnic lunch. Overnight at Hsipaw Resort.

After an early breakfast car return to Mandalay ( 5 hours drive ). Afternoon car transfer to Sagaing area for the Hsinbyume white pagoda and the impressive Mingun Bell, one of the world's largest ringing bells dated A.D 2000. It is located on the west bank of Ayeyarwaddy River, Mingun Town. Overnight in Mandalay.

Early departure to jetty and board the RV Pnorama for an all day downstream cruise on the mighty Irrawaddy river. Lunch onboard. Disembark at Bagan jetty at 05:00 pm and car transfer to Areindamar hotel in New Bagan.

Day 21: BAGAN (B/-/-)
Full day guided visits in Bagan include Shwezigon pagoda, Dhammayangyi Temple, Sarabha Gateway, Ananda Temple, Gubyauknge & Gubyaunkgyi Archaeology Museum, Gawdaw Palin Temple, Sulamani Temple, Mingala Zedi Pagoda. Afternoon horse cart ride for Sunset on Shwesandaw Pagoda. Overnight in Bagan.

Morning flight Bagan/Heho. On arrival car transfer to Pindaya for the Pindaya Shwe U Min Pagoda (Golden Cave Pagoda) with thousands of Buddha images placed by pilgrims before continuing to Pindaya lake, paper & umbrella making industry. Continue by road (about 1.5 hours) to Kalaw, surrounded by dramatic views of mountains, flowing rivers, tribal villages and bamboo groves. Situated at 1,300 m altitude, Kalaw has a cool temperature and is an ideal place for trekking trips. The population is a mix of Shan, Indian Muslims, Bamars (Myanmar) and Nepalis (Gurkhas retired from British military service), many of whom are missionary educated. This is a great place to relax for a while and enjoy the slow pace of life. You will find a number of churches such as Christ the King church and other British style buildings. Tudor-style houses sit amongst English rose gardens, making an interesting contrast to the traditional Burmese villages that surround the town. There are still plenty of examples of Asian architecture in and around Kalaw. An interesting example is the Hnee Phaya, which is an old and highly revered pagoda featuring a Buddha image made from woven strips of bamboo. Also worth visiting is the Shweumin Pagoda, which is built inside a natural limestone cave. There are a number of Buddha images inside the cave that were commissioned by King Narapataesithu. Overnight at Amara Mountain Resort.

Drive to Kakku pagoda complex before heading to Nyaung Shwe town. Board a slow boat for a boat ride to Inle Resort. Rest of the day at leisure to take in the beauty of Inle lake staying at the floating Inle Resort.

Day 24: INLE (B/L/-)
Morning lake excursion and environs by longtail boat including the five-day market ( subject to availability ) before heading to Indein, a 16th century temple site recently discovered.
Other visits of the day include Long Neck Padaung women, traditional Intha Silks weaving village, silver & blacksmiths and the production of Inpawkhone & Burmese cigars in the cheroot factory, where the typical Burmese cigars are made by hand. Lunch during visits at a floating restaurant.
On the way back to hotel visit Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda before slowly cruising in the incredible labyrinth of floating vegetable gardens and floating farmers houses. Overnight in Inle.

Morning boat and car transfer to Heho airport, enroute stopping at the most photogenic teak monastery, the Shwe Yan Pyay Monastery. Fly back to Yangon and connect with your flight home. For beach lovers, an extension to Ngapali paradise beach can be arranged upon request.
