DAY 01 MOSCOW ( -/-/D)
Fly to Moscow with BA or other scheduled airlines. Upon arrival, meet your tour guide and transfer to a 4* hotel. The Russian capital presents itself in wonderful illumination on your "Moscow by Night" city lights tour. Afterwards enjoy a stroll across the famous Red Square with your guide and see Moscow Metro stations in all their splendour and beauty. Dinner & overnight in Moscow
DAY 02 MOSCOW (B/L/D)
Sightseeing of Moscow starts in the morning with the Kremlin, including one of the magnificent cathedrals still left from the time of the Tsars. Situated in the very centre of Moscow, the Kremlin walls and towers, golden-domed cathedrals and ancient palaces stand high on the Borovitskiy Hill above the Moskva River forming a magnificent architectural ensemble and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Kremlin has been the official residence of the President of the Russian Federation since 1991. Towards the evening, transfer to Kazan station to board your Private train. Check-into your cabin and start enjoying this fabulous train journey.
DAY 03 KAZAN (B/L/D)
Morning arrival in Kazan, ancient capital of the Tartars, where we visit the city’s Kremlin followed by a boat trip on Europe's greatest river, the Volga. Our Private Train resumes its journey in the evening.
DAY 04 EKATERINBURG (B/L/D)
In the afternoon, pause in Ekaterinburg for a brief tour of the city centre which was just restored in 2009 with the newly erected "Cathedral-on-the-blood", built in memory of that tragic historical event. Back on the train for continuation of your journey through the vast steppes of Western Siberia.
DAY 05 NOVOSIBIRSK (B/L/D)
Arrive in Novosibirsk, the heart of Siberia where we will be welcomed in the traditional Russian manner with bread and salt. Then a city tour will incorporate a visit to the Transsiberian monument and the mighty Ob River. After dinner, the train continues its ride eastwards.
DAY 06 ACROSS SIBERIA (B/L/D)
The Train, by now our second home, proceeds onward over the Yenisei River through Siberia. The on-board restaurant chefs once again demonstrate their skills with the speciality meal "Tsar’s Feast". Enjoy Russian hospitality with vodka and caviar tasting while passing by impressive landscapes.
DAY 07 IRKUTSK (B/L/D)
Today the train reaches Irkutsk, capital of Eastern Siberia. A city tour takes us to beautiful Siberian wooden cottages, the new statue of Alexander III and the lively market hall. After lunch, undertake an excursion to the open-air museum "Life and Work in the Time of the Tsars”. Spend the night in a centrally located hotel in Irkutsk.
DAY 08 LAKE BAIKAL (B/L/D)
Today we visit a Siberian village by bus. Then a boat takes us across the deep waters to Port Baikal, where a Private Train awaits. On ancient tracks, it takes us directly along the shore of Lake Baikal for several hours. Dinner is served in typical local style as a picnic on the bank of the lake (weather permitting).
DAY 09 ULAN UDE (B/L/D)
Today we explore a different part of this mystical Lake Baikal, and the train heads onwards through the magnificent valley of Selenga passing by wild and lonely mountain steppes of Eastern Siberia. Approaching the Mongolian border, it will stop in Ulan Ude to let us tour this local town. Back on board we head straight to Mongolia.
DAY 10 ULANBAATAR (B/L/D)
In the morning we arrive in Ulan Bataar. City tour includes the impressive Buddhist Gandan Monastery, the open air Railway Museum and the Lama Museum. In the evening, chill out in one of the best beer gardens in the city. Overnight in Ulan Bator staying at a 3* Hotel in city centre.
DAY 11 ULANBAATAR AND THE MONGOLIAN ALPS (B/L/D)
Today's tour is to Mongolian Switzerland by bus. Take in the stunning beauty of the Mongolian countryside. Taste Mongolian nomadic life by having lunch in a typical tent settlement of herdsmen. Enjoy a Mongolian horse ride show before re-boarding our train which will travel onward to the Chinese border.
DAY 12 GOBI DESERT / CHINESE BORDER (B/L/D)
In the early morning the train halts in the middle of the Gobi Desert, in ancient times one of the favourite settlements of dinosaurs. Towards noon, we reach the Chinese border where we change to a Chinese train (Not as special as our Private train but comfortable with 2 or 4 berths compartments).
DAY 13 BEIJING (B/L/D)
The train passes by impressive sceneries and spectacles of Chinese rural life and arrives in Beijing in the morning. Transfer to a 4-star hotel.
DAY 14 BEIJING (B/L/-)
Guided visits to the Temple of Heaven, the Forbidden City and Tiannaman Square. Evening is at leisure & overnight in Beijing.
DAY 15 GREAT WALL (B/L/D)
Enjoy a day trip to the impressive Great Wall followed by a visit to a pearl cultivation farm, the Ming Tombs and the Spirits Avenue. In the evening enjoy the umissable dish : the world-famous Peking Duck.
DAY 16 Departure (B/-/-)
Transfer to the airport for your flight home after completing a wonderful and unforgettable rail tour.
