DAY 02 YANGON (-/-/-)
On arrival in Yangon, our local guide will transfer to lakeside Kandawgyi Palace Hotel. Check-in and rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight in Yangon.
DAY 03 YANGON (B/L/-)
Breakfast at hotel before embarking on a guided Yangon city tour including the National Museum and the Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda to view the Reclining Buddha. Lunch during visits. In the afternoon visit downtown Yangon, the Sule Pagoda, Mahabandoola Park, India and China towns with free time for shopping at Bogyoke Market. Evening enjoy sunset from the great Shwedagon Pagoda.
DAY 04 YANGON / MYITKYINA (B/L/-)
After an early breakfast, transfer to airport for Air Bagan flight to Myitkyina via Mandalay. Myitkyina is the capital of Kachin State in the Ayeyarwaddy plain which is surrounded by high mountain ranges. It is home to the Kachin, Bamar, Shan, Chin, Naga, Lisu people. Guided visits to Thetkya Marazein Andawshin-Paya, famous for its glass mosaics and Kachin-State-Museum. At sunset, visit Tsu Taungpyi Zedidaw Pagoda on the river bank. Overnight at Pantsun Hotel.
DAY 05 MYITKYINA / BHAMAW (B/L/-)
After breakfast, drive (5 hours) along the new ridge across the Ayeyawaddy River, and stop at Waimaw Town to see the cottage industry of the Shan people. There is a small market at Garlinyan Village where we stop for a short break and learn about the culture of the Kachin tribe who have been maintaining their traditional lifestyle. Also stop at the small village of Lwege, the gateway to China. Arrive in Bhamaw and check in at Friendship Hotel.
DAY 06 BHAMAW / MUSE (B/L/-)
Morning guided tour of the local market to watch daily life on the bank of the river. Learn about pot making, cane processing from raw materials to products like baskets, tables & chairs and other furniture at Cottage Industries. Late morning drive to the border town of Muse. The car journey takes about 5 hours on a bumpy road. Muse is a famous bustling trading point between China and Myanmar. Overnight at Shwe Yar Su Motel.
DAY 07 MUSE / LASHIO ( B/L/-)
After breakfast, drive down to Lashio, which is particularly beautiful from November to February, the cool months when flowers blossom. Visit Quan Yin San Chinese Temple, the largest Chinese temple in Myanmar and always busy with Lashio's many Chinese residents. Visit Sasana 2500 Pagoda for a nice view over Lashio, and Mansu Pagoda, said to be over 250 years old. Overnight at Lashio Motel.
DAY 08 LASHIO / HSIPAW (B/L/-)
Early morning, stroll in the colourful local market where tribal people come to sell their farm produce. Mid morning leave Lashio and depart by road to Hsipaw alongside breathtaking sceneries of Shan state. Arrive in Hsipaw, a small town lying on the bank of the Dokhtawady river. Check into Charles Guest House. After lunch, enjoy a boat ride upstream river, immergerd in a stunning scenery of mountains valleys, orange orchards along the river. Walk towards 150-year-old Shan Monastery in the forest then to a Shan village before going back to your hotel for dinner overnight.
DAY 9 HSIPAW / MAYMYO (B/L/D)
After breakfast one hour drive to Kyauk Mae before boarding a local train in Naung Cho. Enjoy a spectacular 4 hour train ride, at one point crossing the famous Gokteik viaduct. Picnic lunch on train. Off the train, rejoin your car for the transfer to Pyin Oo Lwin ( Maymyo ). Maymyo is an old British hill station where the Government officials would come to holiday in the hot season. Many traces of the colonial era are still present in this old town, including brick and timber houses, the well-maintained colonial architecture, British houses & churches. Overnight at The Aureum Palace Hotel.
DAY 10 MAYMYO / MANDALAY (B/L/-)
Enjoy a traditional horse and carriage ride around town and a leisure walk in the beautiful Botanical Gardens. Visit the local market in the centre of the town near to the clock tower. Then, excursion to the impressive Pwe Kauk waterfalls, north of Pyin Oo Lwin. In the afternoon, drive about 2-3 hours to Mandalay. Overnight at Hotel by the Red Canal.
DAY 11 MANDALAY / BAGAN (B/L/-)
Transfer to airport for flight to Bagan in the morning. Transfer to Bagan Hotel. At leisure to explore Bagan bazaars. Overnight at Bagan Hotel.
DAY 12 BAGAN / THANDWE / SITTWE (B/L/D)
Transfer to airport for flight to Sittwe via Thandwe. On arrival, transfer to your hotel in Sittwe, capital of Rakkhine State. Sightseeing tour of Sittwe including the Payagyi Pa- goda, Aye Zedi (Stupa), Point Sea Beach, and Sittwe Market. Overnight at Noble Hotel.
DAY 13 SITTWE / MRAUK U (B/L/D)
Your guide will transfer you to the Kaladan River to board your private boat. Afternoon 4-5 hours cruise through very picturesque scenery to Mrauk U, where you will check into Narawat hotel. Little known Mrauk U was the capital of a powerful Burmese kingdom founded in the 15th century. Its rulers built many lovely pagodas, among them the prestigious Shittaung, Yadanapon and Dukkanthein. Unlike Bagan, where the monuments are spread across an arid plain, in Mrauk U the pagodas (far less numerous and very different in style) are set against a lush, hilly region. Dinner & overnight at Princess Resort Hotel.
DAY 14 MRAUK U / TATOOED CHIN VILLAGES (B/L/D)
Full day excursion to the Tattooed Chin villages 40 minutes drive by car to the East of Mrauk U. Arrive at Sun-Oe village on the bank of Lay Mro (Ra Maung) river. Take a boat ride up the Lay Mro River hidden in the mountain ranges. Here lies the tattooed village : Khone-Chaung Chin where all women aged above 40 wear tattoos on their face. The younger women no longer practice face tattooing. Lunch box provided during visits. On the way back, visit Chaw May Chin village. Most of the women in the village are uneducated, even illiterate and so isolated that they have never seen a car or a bicycle in their life. Cruise down the river to Sun-Oe village and overland transfer back to your hotel. Dinner and overnight at Princess Resort Hotel.
DAY 15 MRAUK U / WETHALI / DINNYAWADI (B/L/D)
Morning excursion to the ancient capital Wethali (8th to 10th century AD), about 8 km to the north of Mrauk U, to see Wethali Palace Site, the City Wall and Moat. Proceed to another ancient capital Dannyawadi (up to 4th century AD), about 22 km north of Wethali. The tour highlights are the Palace site and the famous Mahamuni Shrine on the sacred hillock of Sirigutta. Afternoon drive back to Mrauk U. Dinner and overnight at Princess Resort Hotel.
DAY 16 MRAUK U / SITTWE / YANGON (B/L/-)
After breakfast, leave Mrauk U to head back to Sittwe by private boat, arriving early afternoon. Have lunch there before your flight to Yangon. On arrival transfer to Traders Hotel.
DAY 17 YANGON
Morning at leisure in Yangon. Late afternoon transfer to airport for flight home.
