The Shikoku Pilgrimage is a multi-site pilgrimage of 88 temples associated with the Buddhist monk Kūkai (Kōbō Daishi) on the island of Shikoku, Japan. Today large numbers of Japanese pilgrims (known as henros) still undertake the journey for a variety of ascetic, pietistic, and touristic purposes. Be prepared for lots of walking and overnighting at Temple lodges and vegetarian food for a week.
Price includes: the basic elements such as hotels & temple lodges with daily breakfast, dinners at shukubos, transfers by local buses & trains, admission fees, guide-escort from/to Kansai airport only.
Price excludes: international flights, other meals, guide during the pilgrimage, optional visits in Kyoto, and any service not specified.

DAY 01 Fly to Osaka, Kansai airport.
DAY 02 OSAKA
On arrival, meeting with an airport assistant and join airport limousine bus to hotel. Overnight at Nankai Swiss Hotel.
DAY 03 OSAKA / SHIKOKU (B/-/D)
After breakfast, overland transfer to Shikoku starting with a bus to Tokushima, (3 hours) followed by a train ride to Bando (30 minutes). On arrival start Shikoku pilgrim walk stopping at Ryozen-ji Temple (no 1) and Gokuraku-ji temple (no 2). Check in at a Shukubo (Temple Lodge) called the Gokuraku-ji Temple. Dinner & overnight at the Temple.
DAY 04 SHIKOKU (B/-/D)
After breakfast, continue on this Shikoku 88 pilgrim walk stopping at Konsen-ji temple (no 3), Dainichi-ji temple (no 4) and Jizo-ji temple (no 5). Back to your Shukubo for dinner & overnight.
DAY 05 SHIKOKU / ZENTSUJI (B/-/D)
After breakfast board a train then bus to Zentsuji. Today visits include Yashima, Ritsurin Koen and Zentsu-ji temples. Dinner & Overnight at Zentsu-ji Temple.
DAY 06 ZENJSUJI (B/-/D)
After an early breakfast, enjoy practising morning prayers, Shakyo and meditation. Visit a workshop making the famous Japanese Udon noodles. Dinner & Overnight at Zentsu-ji temple.
DAY 07 HIMEJI (B/-/D)
After breakfast, board a train to Himeji via Okayama (1.5 hours). On arrival bus transfer followed by a ropeway ride to Shoshazan Enkyoji Temple where ‘The Last Samurai’ was filmed. Check in at the temple for dinner & overnight.
DAY 08 KOYASAN (B/-/D)
After breakfast, board local trains to Koyasan (3 hours) via Osaka, Namba, Hashimoto and Gokurakubashi. Ropeway ride to Koyasan. Check in Rengejoin Temple for dinner & overnight.
DAY 09 KOYASAN (B/-/D)
Enjoy morning prayers, meditation, and Tai Chi. Temple visits include Okuno-in, Jison-in, Daimon, Danjogaran, Kongobuji, Nyonindo. Dinner & overnight at the temple.
DAY 10 KOYASAN / KYOTO (B/-/-)
After breakfast, take the ropeway back to Gokurakubashi to board the Express train to Osaka, then board another train to Kyoto. Total journey is 2.5 hours. On arrival check in Choraku-ji Temple for overnight.
DAYS 11+12 KYOTO (B/-/-)
Days at leisure to enjoy Kyoto staying at Choraku-ji temple on bed & breakfast basis.
DAY 13 DEPARTURE (B/-/-)
Bus transfer to Kansai airport with guide escort for your flight home.
DAY 14 Arrive home.
