A 17 day voyage of discovery in the most beautiful islands of Indonesia, Java, Sulawesi (Celebes) and Bali. Each of these 3 islands has so much to offer and is so different from each other we may think we are visiting 3 different countries. Jawa rich & misty with its smoky volcanoes, Sulawesi indolent & peaceful and Bali graceful and active.

For beach lovers an extension to Lombok is advisable.

Day 1 Scheduled flights to Jakarta via Singapore or Kuala Lumpur.

Day 2 Jakarta (-/-/D)
Morning arrival at Jakarta international airport. After immigration & customs formalities meeting with our representative and transfer to hotel Borobudur in central Jakarta. Rest of the day is at leisure to relax after long flights or enjoy a stroll in the streets of Jakarta. Diner and overnight at Hotel Borobudur.

Day 3 Jakarta / Yogyakarta (B/-/D)
After breakfast, transfer to the station and board your train for Yogyakarta. Taksaka Train depart at 1O:00 am. Arrive at Yogyakarta station at 18:17, you will be met by your local guide and transferred to Phoenix hotel. Diner and overnight at Phoenix Hotel in Central Yogyakarta.

Day 4 Yogyakarta (B/L/D)
Full day excursion starting with a city tour including Yogyakarta main streets, the Sultan Palace and bird market. Visit to the Temple of Borobudur, the largest Buddhist temple in the world, followed by Mendut temple & monastery and the impressive Prambanan Hindu temple. Lunch and dinner at local restaurants. Overnight at Phoenix Hotel.

Day 5 Surabaya - Bromo (B/L/D)
After an early breakfast transfer to Tugu station to board your train for Surabaya. Upon arrival in Surabaya, meeting with guide. A very brief Surabaya city tour before transfer to Bromo area. The road journey takes about 3 hours passing by terraced rice fields and sugar cane farms. Stop at Pasuruan fishing village for a brief visit to a salt refinery. On arrival check in hotel Bromo Cottage perched on the slope of Mount Bromo.

Day 6 Bromo – Ijen (B/L/D)
Rise early for a jeep drive to Mount Penanjakan viewpoint to see the sunrise (weather permitting). Later drive down to the caldera and enjoy a horseback riding across the sea of sand to reach Mount Bromo. Return to hotel for breakfast. Afterwards continue by road to Ketapang along the most beautiful sceneries in southern Java. Diner and overnight at Ketapang Indah (Garden View) in Bayuwangi.

Day 7 Ijen (B/L/D)
After an early breakfast, jeep drive past coffee and clove plantations to Pal Tuding base camp. Here start hiking on a shady trekking trail with amazing views of mountains & valleys leading to the crater of Mount Ijen. What you are about to discover is truly wonderful : A beautiful sulphuric turquoise lake which changes colours according to the weather and time of the day. You will see the sulphur porters who often come up each time with bags of sulphur weighing up to 90 kg each. Leisure walk down the mountain and rejoin your jeep for a drive back to town. Lunch at local restaurant. After pedicab tour around Bayuwangi town passing by Pendopo Kabupaten Town Hall, Masjid Agung the largest Mosque in the area, an old harbour and Bayuwangi traditional market. Dinner & overnight at Ketapang Indah hotel.

Day 8 Ijen – Bali (B/L/D)
After breakfast overland transfer to harbour to board a ferryboat to Bali. On arrival overland transfer to Sanur. Lunch en route at local restaurant. Diner and overnight at Segara Village, a beach front resort in central location.

Day 9 Sanur (B/L/D)
Breakfast at hotel. Day at leisure to enjoy the beach or take a short walk to Sanur town centre to explore its attractive boutiques. Lunch & dinner at Segara Village Hotel

Day 10 Denpasar / Makasar (B/L/D)
Early morning transfer to the airport for flight to Makasar with Garuda Airways. Upon arrival, meeting with your Sulawesian guide and drive to Toraja land along a very scenic coastal road passing by Pare Pare. Rice fields, fish ponds and Bugis villages keep appearing on the 2 sides of the road. Stop for lunch at Kupa beach. Afternoon start entering the hinterland of south Sulawesi, from here the panoramic views are changing dramatically. Photo stops are welcomed such as at Pucak Lakawan and Salubarani. Diner and overnight at Toraja Heritage Hotel.

Day 11 Toraja Land Tour (B/L/D)
The tour starts by visiting Lemo – where the burial places are carved high up on the rock cliffs. There are rows of effigies of deceased on display next to them. Continue to Pasiliran in Sangalla area - it is a burial place for babies in tree trunks. The last visit before lunch is Suaya - the burial site for the nobles of Sangalla. There are effigies on a balcony carved on the cliff and preserved ancient sarcophagus nearby. Lunch at local restaurant. Afternoon visit Londa – the biggest burial places in the cave. There rows of Tau Tau or wooden effigies are displayed in the balcony. Proceed then to Kete’ Ke’su one of the most beautiful places with rows of traditional houses displayed on a beautiful setting. Kete Kesu area is well known for Toraja wood carving too. Take the chance to walk to a burial place just behind the village. There are hanging ancient wooden sarcophagus and rows of wooden effigies. Dinner & overnight at Toraja Heritage Hotel.

Day 12 Toraja Tour (B/L/D)
Visit Pallawa - one of the largest traditional village with old boat houses, then to Sa’dan renowned for its typical Toraja Weaving skills. Lunch at local restaurant. Afternoon drive to Bori to see the Simbuang – Toraja stone monuments. Short trek in a local village before returning to hotel for overnight.

Day 13 Makassar – Denpasar (B/L/D)
Overland transfer to Makassar airport for flight back to Denpasar. Lunch en route. On arrival at Bali, you will be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel in Ubud. Dinner and overnight at Alila Ubud or Ubud Village.

Day 14 Ubud (B/L/D)
Full day excursion. Starting with the discovery of one of the oldest temples in Bali, « Goa Gajah », which means the cave of the elephant, probably due to its Ganesh statue. Then visit of Yeh Pulu, and then visit the temple of Pura Panataran Sasih in Pejeng, with its famous carvings. Next is the visit the ancient temple of Gunung Kawi, which houses 11th century tombs carved in rock. They contain the urns and the remains of King Anak Wungsu, who reigned from 1048 to 1077. Visit of the sacred fountains of Tampaksiring, which are known for their healing power, but where only the Balinese can swim. Return to the hotel for overnight. Lunch and dinner at local restaurants.

Day 15 Ubud (B/L/D)
After breakfast, visit of the temple of the royal family of Mengwi (mid 17th century), named Taman Ayun, surrounded by water. Continuation to Bedugul, visit the Ulun Danu Temple, the second most important temple of the island. Depart to Jatiluwih. Soft trekking in Jatiluwih through the terraced rice fields (about 2 hours). The region is famous for its stunning panoramic view. Lunch during visits. Last visit of the day is the temple of Batukaru. Return to Ubud. Diner and overnight at hotel.

Day 16 Denpasar – Transfert Out (B)
The morning is free at leisure for shopping in Ubud area. In due time transfer to the Denpasar airport for flight home or beach extension to Lombok.
