DAY 01 International flights to Beijing, Capital of the People's Republic of China.

DAY 02 BEIJING (-/-/-)
Arrive in Beijing, meet our guide at airport and transfer to 4* Novotel Peace Hotel.

Beijing sightseeing brings you to Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven built in 1420 where emperors of Ming & Qing would perform rituals essential to the wellbeing of their people. Take an outside view of Olympic Venues including the Bird Nest and Water Cube before enjoying a delicious Peking Duck Dinner banquet and a fabulous Kungfu Show.

Tour the Grandeur of the Great Wall, the 8th Wonder of the World, built over 2,000 years ago to protect China from Northern invaders. Return to Beijing stopping at the sacred Ming tombs, where 13 emperors of the Ming Dynasty were buried. Overnight at Novotel Peace.

Dy 05 Beijing / DATONG (B/L/-)
Rise early for the only flight CA1119 (07:20-08:25) to Datong in Shanxi province. Upon arrival, you will be met by your guide at the airport. Visit Yungang Grottoes, an ancient Buddhist temple. They are excellent examples of rock-cut architecture and one of the three most famous ancient sculptural sites of China. And then pay a visit to the Nine Dragon Wall. Overnight at 4-star Datong Garden Hotel.

After breakfast, a leisurely 2 hour drive takes you to an extraordinary ancient Chinese architectural building: the Hanging Monastery, a temple built into a cliff. Another hour drive and you will be at the amazing Yingxian Wooden Pagoda. It stands on a 4 m (13 ft) tall stone platform, has a 10 m (33 ft) tall steeple, and reaches a total height of 67.31 m (220.83 ft) tall. It is the oldest existent fully-wooden pagoda still standing in China. In the afternoon, drive about 3.5 hours to Pingyao, once a prosperous city in the Ming & Qing Dynasty, now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Overnight at the Dejuyuan folk-style Guesthouse, an ensemble of old Chinese shops, court yards and attics beautifully converted into accommodation.


Today visit the Ri Sheng Chang remittance bank, the first draft bank in China and the beginning of a nation-wide financial system. Continue to visit the Ancient Government Office. This well-preserved local building functioned, once upon a time, as a government office and a court for civil disputes. Then enjoy a relaxing stroll along the Ming and Qing street.

Today drive to Taiyuan. En route, visit the Qiao Family Compound, one of Shanxi's wealthiest merchant during the last few hundred years. Continue to visit Jinci Temple built over 1,000 years ago. The temple was built to commemorate Tang Shu Yu, a prince during the Zhou dynasty (1122-771BC). Have a stroll in Taiyuan town centre before boarding the overnight soft sleeper train to Luoyang, the capital city of China under 9 dynasties.

DAY 09 LUOYANG (-/L/-)
Arrive in Luoyang around noon where you will be met by a guide at the railway station. After lunch, visit the White Horse Temple, the first Buddhism Temple referred to as "the cradle of Buddhism" in China. Continue to visit the Longmen Buddhism Grottoes, one of the famous four grottoes in China. It provides a large number of historical documents about ancient religions, fine arts, architecture, calligraphy, music, fashion, as well as medicine. Overnight at 4* Friendship Hotel

After breakfast drive to Dengfeng. Start a full day tour to visit the Shaolin Monastery, from where the martial art of Kungfu originated. Now the temple has gained worldwide fame as "No.1 famous temple in China". Continue with the visit to the pagoda forest in the Shaolin Temple. It was a concentration of tomb pagodas for eminent monks, abbots and high ranking monks at the temple. In the afternoon, drive to Zhengzhou. Overnight at Zhengzhou Hotel.

Today visit the Henan Museum, one of China's oldest museums. It is a 'key' museum, with modern displays and exhibitions, modernized equipment, and a unique architecture. In the afternoon, transfer to airport for flight to Shanghai. Overnight at 4* The Bund Hotel in Shanghai.

This morning following breakfast visit Shanghai Museum, home to one of China's finest collections of paintings, bronzes and ceramics. Tour the old section of Shanghai and the nearby Yu Yuan (Yu Gardens) with its classical pavilions, fountains and landscaping. Following lunch, have free time for exploration along the Bund, where Shanghai's famous colonial architecture contrasts with the skyscrapers of Pudong just across the Huang Pu River.
