Day 1 : Fly to Nur Sultan ( former Astana ).

Day 2 : ASTANA (B/-/D)
Arrival in early morning. Transfer to Kazzhol hotel for an early check-in & breakfast. Morning is at leisure to relax and catch up with sleep.
Planned city Nur-Sultan was known as Astana until March 2019 and is the capital city of Kazakhstan. On 23 March 2019, following a unanimous vote in Kazakhstan's parliament, the city was renamed Nur-Sultan after former Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
Mid afternoon guided city tour starts from the old part of the capital, where through the streets of this old city, we will learn the history of Astana when it was still a town under the reign of Russian Tsar, many building of local merchants have been preserved in its original state. Then we switch to the modern city to see the unique buildings of the new capital and visit some of Astana top attractions : Cathedral Mosque Hazrat Sultan – the largest mosque in Central Asia made from white marble and considered as a small version of The Mosque in Medina, National History Museum famous for its Golden room decorated with gold found during the excavations of tombs of Scythian tribes, Bayterek Monument – symbol of Astana with its observation platform, EXPO 2017 Museum – one of the world largest sphere and dedicated to the Alternative Energy, each floor of the Museum is about a different type of Energy: cosmic, solar, wind, water, bio-energy, kinteics. Complete the tour with Khan-Shatyr complex, the world largest transparent tent of 140,000 sq.m made from modern innovative materials. Welcome dinner at local restaurant after which enjoy a drive around town to see Astana by night before returning to hotel. Overnight at 4* Kazzhol hotel.

After breakfast transfer to airport for a day flight to Almaty. On arrival transfer to Almaty Hotel. Afternoon Almaty orientation tour starts with the Republic Square to learn about the dark history behind this place: in 1986 students gathered at the Square in order to protest against the appointment of a new Chairman of the Kazakh USSR. During this protest hundreds of students were killed and injured. Then the Monument of Independence, a sculpture of the Golden Man erected on the Central Square, the Abay monument and the Palace of the Republic, part of the architectural ensemble.
Next visits are the Central State Museum ( the largest in Central Asia ) and the Arts Museum, The State Academic Opera & Ballet Theatre, Kazakh-British Polytechnic University which building used to be Kazakhstan House of Parliament and later Almaty City hall .

Day 4 : ALMATY (B/L/D)
Drive up to Shymbulak resort located in the Small Almaty Gorge at over 3,000 m on altitude. Scenic cable car ride to the platform and enjoy a panoramic view of Almaty. Today’s next visits are : The Beatles statues on Kok Tube Hill, St Nicholas Cathedral built before the revolution, Panfilov park and Ascension Cathedral, the most photographed building in Almaty, Ikhlas Museum of musical instruments, the Green bazaar and the harmoniously designed Central Mosque.

After an early breakfast depart by road to Tamgaly-Tas Petroglyph Park (150 km), a Unesco world heritage. Stop en route for a brief visit to the Car Museum in Kapshagay. Then we stop for lunch at one of the largest camel farms in Kazakhstan which is well known for its camel milk called 'Shubat'. Lunch is served in a Kazakh nomadic house “yurta”.
Tamgaly-tas is the world's largest complex of rock carvings & paintings, burial grounds and places of worship of ancient times.
More than 4000 paintings and rock carvings of Tamgaly -tas are dated back to the Bronze age. The most famous petroglyph of Tamgaly Tas is an image of Sun head deity with a circular halo made up of rays and dots. Scientists speculate that this Sun god depiction at Tamgaly is one of the most ancient images of a Solar God.
Mid afternoon road transfer back to Almaty. Dinner at local restaurant

Morning drive to Charyn Canyon described as the little brother of the Grand Canyon. The picturesque canyon with its fantastic forms is one of the must-see attractions of Almaty region. The Canyon itself is approximately 150 km long, and, in places up to 300 m deep. Nature theatre of Charyn presents valley of Castles with rocky ravines and sandy towers created by water, wind and time. Among this abundance of natural beauty there is a grove of relict species of ash tree, which survived the era of glaciation. Drive down inside the canyon by Russian minibus. Leisure time for a walk in the canyon and relax by the river. Picnic lunch.
Dinner at the Eco park restaurant and overnight in yurta ( shared shower & toilet).

After breakfast travel overland across a stunning mountain scape passing by the giant black canyon. Continue by road to the very attractive Kaiyndi lake with mangroves raising above its turquoise water. Optional horse riding to/from the lake. Drive to Taushelek hotel for check-in and lunch.
Rest of the afternoon is reserved for a visit to another wonderful natural beauty, the evergreen Kolsay lake. Time for a leisurely stroll around the lake, photo taking and chatting with the locals.

After breakfast overland transfer to the border with Kyrgyzstan for an extension to Kyrgyzstan or transfer back to Almaty for a flight home or extension to Uzbekistan.
