Day 01 :
Departure from Heathrow. Fly with Thai Airways to
ChiangRai via Bangkok.
Day 02 :ChiangRai ( D )Arrival in ChiangRai in the
afternoon. Meeting with our representative at airport and
transfer to Legend hotel. ChiangRai orientation tour with
guide followed by Welcome Dinner. Overnight at Legend
hotel.
Day 03 :ChiangRai - Houexay – Pakbeng ( B, L ) After
breakfast transfer to ChiangKhong on Thai-Lao border.
Cross the Mekong river by slow boat to Houeyxay. After
visa process, meeting with Lao local guide and board a
sampan for a cruise down the Mekong river to Pakbeng with
several stops on the way to discover villages of ethnic
minorities H’mong, Yao and Lu. Arrival in Pakbeng in late
afternoon. Overnight at Pakbeng Lodge.
Day 04 :Pakbeng - Luang Prabang ( B, L ) Second leg of the
boat cruise through fascinating scenery of mountains and
forests to LuangPrabang, the ancient Capital of Lane Xang
Kingdom. Several stops at ethnic minority villages and
visit to Pak Ou holy caves where you will find a
collection of hundreds of gold lacquered Buddha statues of
various shapes and sizes. Overnight in LuangPrabang at
Sala Prabang hotel.
Day 05 : Luang Prabang ( B, L
) LuangPrabang
city tour with guide. The tranquillity and charm of this
town with its splendid natural scenery and cultural sites
make it on the of the most delightful places to visit in
Laos. Today we explore the exquisite temples of
WatXiengThong, the impressive stupa of Wat Visun, the
shrine of Wat Aham,Wat May. In the afternoon, we cross the
Mekong to Ban Xieng Mene to visit Long Khune temple.
Discover the weaving village of Ban Phanom and enjoy the
panoramic view of beautiful LuangPrabang on the holy
Phousi hill at sunset. Evening visit to Street Night
Market where we can find a wide range of local handmade
textile and souvenirs collections. Enjoy dinner with Lao
traditional dances and experience the ritual Baci
ceremony. Overnight at Sala Prabang hotel.
Day 06 :Luang Prabang ( B, L ) You may want to get up early
to witness the ritual morning alm giving : local people
gathering in the streets waiting to offer food to
saffron-clad monks walking in line with their alm bowls.
Excursion to surrounding villages such as ban Xang Khong,
ban Xieng Lek: Jute paper production, weaving and dying.
Afternoon trip to visit KhouangSi waterfall where you can
enjoy a cool swim in the forest with stop at villages of
the Khmus and Hmong on the way. Overnight in LuangPrabang
at Sala Prabang hotel.
Day 07 : Luang Prabang/
Vientiane- Xieng Khuang ( B, L ) Morning visit to the National
Museum at the former Royal Palace which displays a
collection of artifacts reflecting the richness of Lao
culture. Flight to XiengKhuang province where you can
marvel beautiful green high mountains and rugged kharst
formations. Visit to the mysterious archaeological sites
of the Plain of Jars scattered with hundreds of huge stone
jars carved from solid rocks about 3000 years ago. To
date, the purpose of the jars is still disputed. Return at
sunset for overnight in XiengKhuang at the Auberge de la
Plaine des Jarres (2 star).
Day 08 :Xieng Khuang – Vientiane ( B, L ) Visit to the
local market of Phonesavanh before transfer to airport to
flight to Vientiane. Transfer to Beau Rivage riverview
hotel (3star). Vientiane afternoon city tour: former Royal
Temple of Wat PhraKeo, original home of the Emerald Budha,
Wat Sisaket the oldest temple with thousands of miniatures
Buddha statues, the golden ThatLuang Stupa, the imposing
Patuxai monument known as Laos’ Arch of Triumph and Mekong
river at sunset. Overnight in Vientiane.
Day 09 :Vientiane ( B, L ) Visit to Vientiane morning
market and day trip to visit the Lao- Thai Friendship
bridge and the Buddha park, a blend of Buddhist and Hindu
sculptures with stop on the way at a silk farm and the
hand weaving village of Ban Nong Buathong. Overnight at
Beau Rivage Art hotel.
Day 10 : Vientiane ( B )
Day at leisure or
optional trip to NamNgum lake. Overnight at Beau Rivage
hotel.
Day 11 :Pakze – Tadlo ( B, L ) Morning flight to Pakse. On
arrival transfer to Paksong and the Bolovens Plateau by
the coffee road with stop en route to visit coffee and
cardamon plantations and the hill tribe villages of the
Katu, Kalum, Souey, Lovens, Ya Eum ethnic people. After
lunch, drive to Saravane. Overnight at Tadlo Lodge.
Day 12 : Khong islands ( B, L
) Morning drive to
Khong islands passing by the village of elephants on
SePien valley, the Khiet Ngong. Ride an elephant up to the
sacred mount of Phu Assa overlooking the Mekong valley.
After a picnic lunch board a ferry across the Mekong to
Khong 4000 islands. Overnight atVilla Muang Khong hotel.
Day 13 : Khone island ( B, L
) Boat excursion
through the 4000 islands to the Mekong falls of PhaPheng
and Liphi. Short walking tour on Khone island to discover
the remains of the old French railway and visit to Ban
Hang Khone.Overnight in Khone Island at Sala Done
Khone hotel.
Day 14 : Khone – Champassak -
Pakse ( B, L )
Drive to Champassak pre-Angkorian mystical site of Wat
Phou Temple located a few km from Champassak town. This is
an important Khmer monument which dated back to the 10th
century and is regarded as an outstanding example of Khmer
architecture. Drive to Pakze for overnight at Champa
Residence.
Day15: UBON - BKK ( B, L )
Morning Pakse
guided city tour followed by lunch at a local restaurant.
Afternoon transfer across Thai border to Ubon Ratchathani
airport for departure. Fly home with Thai Airways via
Bangkok.
